Two Boutique Stays, Two Sides of Lisbon
Lisbon is a city that begs to be experienced in layers, and for me, that begins with where I stay. On my most recent trip, I decided to immerse myself in two very different boutique hotels—each offering its own unique perspective on Portugal’s capital.
First was Casa do Príncipe, a hotel that feels like stepping back in time. Tucked inside a 19th-century residence, its Victorian details, high ceilings, and ornate décor made me feel like I was living in a chapter of Lisbon’s history. Every corner had a story, and every detail whispered of the city’s aristocratic past.
Then, in contrast, came Silent Living, a hotel that embodies modern minimalism. With only seven rooms, it’s intimate, almost like being a guest in someone’s private home. The space felt airy and calm—pared back yet deeply thoughtful. Because of its limited rooms, it books up quickly, and it’s easy to see why. Staying there felt like discovering Lisbon’s best-kept secret.
Both properties couldn’t have been more different—yet that was the beauty of it. By choosing two contrasting stays in different parts of the city, I was able to experience Lisbon from multiple angles. Casa do Príncipe connected me with Lisbon’s heritage, while Silent Living allowed me to embrace its modern, forward-looking spirit.
That’s the magic of boutique hotels: they don’t just give you a place to sleep; they give you a lens through which to view the city. And in Lisbon, those lenses couldn’t have been more captivating.
